O compositor francês Maurice Jarre, de 84 anos, morreu hoje de madrugada em Los Angeles, no Estado norte-americano da Califórnia, anunciou o agente do seu filho, Jean-Michel Jarre, confirmando uma informação do site Purepeople.
A carreira de Maurice Jarre, nascido em 1924 em Lyon, no sudeste de França, começou nos anos 50, com a composição de música para filmes.
O êxito da banda sonora original de Lawrence of Arabia, em 1962, içou-o ao pódio de Hollywood e cimentou a sua colaboração com o realizador britânico David Lean, com quem formou igualmente equipa em Doctor Zhivago ou Doutor Jivago (1965) e A Passage to India ou Passagem para a Índia (1984).
Pelas bandas sonoras destes três filmes, Maurice Jarre foi recompensado com três Oscar da Academia Cinematográfica norte-americana.

Talvez o mais marcante tenha sido, para mim, Lauwrence of Arabia. Abriu fronteiras para paisagens míticas. O brilho inédito da aventura no deserto. O magnetismo que se desprendia da interpretação de Peter O'Toole no papel do oficial do Império Brtânico T.E Lawrence. O todo me fascionou.

Mas há um filme especial que me ocou pela mística. Ghost com Patrick Swayze e Demi Moore. Sentires intimistas que a banda sonora de Maurice Jarre valorizou com aquele toque de sobrenaturalidade. Maurice Jarre obteve com este filme uma nova nomeação de "Melhor Banda Sonora" 1990 nos Oscars desse ano.
